Denison "Big Red" Hockey

Denison University "Big Red" Ice Hockey is a ACHA Division 2 team from Granville, Ohio competing in the American Collegiate Hockey Association(ACHA) as an Independent team.  Denison university is a highly competitive hockey-minded school dedicated to building a program of excellence.

Since 1955 Denison Hockey has been taking the ice, some squads were stronger than others, but all the squads played hard-nosed, in your face hockey and this year's squad promises to be the same.  Players come from all over the United States and Canada.  Most players played high level Varsity High School, Junior or U-18 Midget AA and AAA hockey.

Head Coach Jeff German has been around the game of hockey for over 40 years, as a player and as a coach.  He took over the team in 2015 and continues a strong commitment to establishing Denison University among the nation's top ACHA hockey schools.   Growing the program exponentially  since taking the helm, Coach German has established a team culture of both academic and athletic excellence.

Assistant Coach Patrick Brighton has excelled as both a coach and as a player in both High School and College ranks.  Together, the coaching pair of coach Brighton and coach German have amassed an impressive record of 172-30-11 as High School coaches.  As Collegiate hockey coaches, the team of German and Brighton have gone 61-30-6, while playing  tough schedules against some very good hockey teams.  Their highlights include winning the Gary Baldwin Tournament in 2017 and runner up in 2018 and 2019, as well as  College Hockey East regular season champs 2018-19 with an impressive 9-0-1 regular season record.
